In Unica everyone has their set roles. Children are nurtured by the entire community, attending school from ages five to fifteen to learn the history of their great Empire, mathematics, literacy, science, and basic survival skills. Survival skills encompass things like gardening and agriculture, lessons on how to use Geiger Counters and other surroundings-testing equipment, basic cooking, fire starting (within safe, fireproof rooms, of course), first aid, and knot-tying.

Careers are assigned to citizens at 16 years old. If a child has a deep interest and naturally analytic and hard-working mind, they may be accepted to attend University, where they will gain rigorous schooling and training to become doctors or scientists.

If a child is not accepted into such a prestigious and difficult program, they receive a normal career - which is no less important to helping our Empire and its citizens. Some examples of the many career options are:

Once Unicans have been assigned a career, they are allowed and encouraged to procreate. We rely on our dutiful citizens to provide our glorious Empire with strong, beautiful children to ensure the human race not only survives, but thrives.

Thus, Unicans who provide the Empire with at least one child every two years will receive extra rations every week, free toys and clothing for their children every year, one hour of extra leisure time every week, and upon the birth of the fifth child in the family will receive larger housing accommodations. Those who choose not to fulfill their utmost duty to their Empire by the age of 21 will be penalized with less rations and more work detail assignments, and may be reassigned to less desirable careers and lodging.

Unican family units consist of a man and up to five breeding-age women as his partners (more than five are not allowed in the interest of genetic diversity) as well as all of their children. Women are not allowed more than one breeding partner at a time, though adultery essentially is not a thing in Unica as long as it results in pregnancy. Once people receive their first career assignment at 16, they are given new living quarters to free space in their parents homes for more children, and to encourage the breeding of their own children.

“Rape” is not punished as long as there is a chance of pregnancy, for what woman would not wish to fulfill her duty to her Empire? [see disclaimer below] Along these lines, homosexuality is simply seen as a sexual deviation and is often overlooked as long as the person continues procreating and completing their other duties. However, any homosexual who does not mate with the opposite sex to have children may be given capital punishment to remind them of their duty to the Empire.

The underground world is very different from the above-ground world our ancestors enjoyed, but is no less glorious or beautiful! In this world there are no restaurants, no superstores or malls. There are the ration depots which hand out weekly meal supplies - produce grown in Unica’s extensive underground crop fields and meat, dairy, and eggs harvested from Unica’s large underground farms.

We also have general “stores” where citizens may exchange vouchers for their yearly allotted clothing, toys, tools and other supplies, and occasional books, cassette tapes, and VHS tapes. All entertainment material has been reviewed and approved by Unican government officials to ensure the purity of the content. Materials with heretical ideals or anti-government brainwashing is destroyed and the possessors severely punished. We must protect the fragile minds of our youth and not let them become infected with dangerous ideas.

Beautiful Unica also has over fifteen pristine underground greenhouse parks for the peace and enjoyment of all her citizens, as well as 23 medical wards to promote health and well-being. Unicans never have to fear for their safety, for regular military patrols walk through the halls and perform random house inspections to ensure all citizens are safe and upholding the ideals of our Empire. Any citizens who are found guilty of large crimes (murder, treason, etc) are sentenced to Exposure, where they are led far away from Unican ground and abandoned without radiation suits or oxygen into the wasteland of the Surface and left to die.

Every Sunday morning in Unica - throughout civilian quarters, work facilities, and military bunkers - there is an Empire-wide broadcast on the speakers set into the walls of every room. The Triad, the illustrious leaders of the Empire, each take time to speak words of encouragement and guidance to our people. Michael Chambers, the Head of Civilian Affairs, often speaks of our children, our food supply, and our careers. Dr. Haesha Powlett, the Head Scientist and Doctor, often speaks of public health and the successes of the Powered Peoples Program. Turk Davenport, the Master Commander of the military, often speaks of public safety and encourages volunteers to enlist in the army.

As you can see, ours is a glorious life. The Unican Empire upholds humanity’s purity and strength. Unica above all.
